CBAM in UK - Implications for Indian Exporters
The last couple of weeks have been busy in the Indian UK business corridor. On April 25, UK released a carbon border tax bill modeled around CBAM and sought feedback on the same. A couple of weeks later, UK and India signed a landmark trade agreement after almost 3 years of negotiation.
One of the topics of intense negotiation was India's opposition to UK's CBAM. There was no concession from UK but a more softer rebalancing clause was agreed to mutually.
